The NIA is proud to announce that we were successful in our Skills Development Fund application, which provides Provincial funds for the purpose of training, re-training, upskilling, and mentoring employees. The structure of the program focuses on an employer-led approach that provides flexibility to meet the needs of our manufacturing businesses.
The primary goal of this program is to mitigate and de-risk the cost to employers of internally training employees. This training – or knowledge transfer – often needs to be done through senior employee mentorship, which results in reduced productivity. Our program back-fills some of these costs. Finally, the NIA understands that our member resources are often strained, and filing complex funding applications is simply not in the business model. We have done the heavy lifting in this respect, acting as the curator of training dollars with minimal administrative burden attached.
