Privacy Policy

NIA Privacy Policy

Niagara Industrial Association (NIA)  respects your privacy and is committed to protect the information you share with us. This online privacy statement describes how we use that information.

Information collection

Personal information, as defined in private sector privacy legislation, refers to information about an identifiable individual. It generally does not include information about legal persons such as corporations, partnerships or associations or the business contact information of those employed by such legal persons.

We do not automatically collect your business information. We do, however, log your IP address (the internet address of your computer) to give us an idea of which parts of our website you visit and how long you spend there. Like many other commercial websites, this website may use a standard technology called a “cookie” to collect information about how you use the site. Please go to “Cookies and Tracking Information” below for more information.

How we use the information collected

NIA uses information for several general purposes: to personalize your experience on our website, to keep you up-to-date on the latest news, events, current issues, announcements, special offers or other information we think you would like to hear about either from us or from our business partners, and to better understand your needs and provide you with better services. We may also use your information to send you, or to have our business partners send you, direct marketing information or contact you for market research.

Information sharing and disclosure

Within NIA, data is stored in controlled servers with limited access and retention of your information will be limited to such timeframe as required by legal or business reasons.

Except under the conditions explained below, your information is never shared outside NIA without your permission.

NIA may send your information to other companies or people under any of the following circumstances: (1) when we have your consent to share information; (2) when we need to share your information to provide the product or service you have requested; or (3) when we want to keep you up-to-date on the latest news, events, current issues, announcements, special offers or other information we think you would like to hear about either from us or from our business partners.

NIA also reserves the right to use or disclose your information where required or permitted by law to do so, in order to satisfy any regulation or legal request, to protect the integrity of this site, to cooperate in any law enforcement investigation or an investigation on a matter of public safety, in urgent circumstances or to protect personal safety, the public or our websites in general.

Review and delete account and information

You may request deletion of your NIA account or any of your personal information held by us by sending an e-mail to nia.staffmember@gmail.com

Data security

NIA safeguards the security of the data you send us with physical, electronic, and managerial procedures. In certain areas of our website, NIA uses industry-standard SSL-encryption to enhance the security of data transmissions. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us, and so we urge you to take every precaution to protect your information data when you are on the internet. We recommend you change your passwords often, use a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure you use a secure browser.

Children and privacy

Our website does not target and is not intended to attract children under the age of 13. NIA does not knowingly solicit information, personal or otherwise, from children under the age of 13 or send them requests for personal information.

Third-party sites

NIA’s registration website may contain links to other sites not operated by NIA. Some of these third party sites may be co-branded with a NIA logo, even though they are not operated or maintained by NIA. Although we choose our business partners carefully, if you visit one of these sites, you should review their privacy policies as we are not responsible for their policies and practices.

Changes to our privacy policy

NIA reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. You should check this privacy policy periodically. This policy was last amended in 2014.
