It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and past Operations Manager, Wendy Smith on August 29th, 2021. After a long and difficult battle with a rare form of cancer since December 2018, Wendy passed on peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Wendy will be dearly missed by all of us here at the Niagara Industrial Association. She spent 7 years working as the NIA Operations Manager and celebrated her retirement in late January 2021. Her contributions to this organization came through her shared kindness, generosity, warmth, and spirit and have made her known as the ‘Heart of the NIA’.
We are deeply saddened by the news of Wendy’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her loving family – her husband, Rob Lander, and two daughters, Stephanie & Dani Plato.
